CEO, assistant artistic director
Born in 1958 in Bonn. After a business management education and additional administrative training at the Institute for Municipal Administration in Cologne, Klaus Steppat worked as personnel manager at the Schauspiel Bonn from 1982 to 1992.
From 1992 to 1998 he was executive director of the Schauspiel Frankfurt/Main.
In 1998 he moved to Berlin, where he held the post of the managing director of the Maxim Gorki Theater until 2011. He has been CEO and assistant artistic director at the Deutsches Theater Berlin since 2011. Klaus Steppat is a member of the Board of the German Theatre Association/Berlin sector. He is an honorary judge in a local labour court as well as a member of the Berlin theatre arbitration tribunal.
