Michael de Vivie
Artistic Management Director
Michael de Vivie was born in Hamburg in 1959. From 1978 on he studied graphic design and started working for the Theater im Zimmer, Hamburg, as a director’s assistant and dramaturg. From 1984 to 1990 he was head dramaturg and artistic associate of the artistic director Peter Eschberg at Schauspiel Bonn. Furthermore he worked freelance for the WDR, for several film and theatre productions, and as production manager at the 'Hochschule für Medien' in Cologne. He was chief artistic administrator and head of the artistic administration department at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg under the direction of Frank Baumbauer and later at the Schauspielhaus Zurich under the direction of Christoph Marthaler. He has been working at the Deutsches Theater as chief artistic administrator and head of the artistic administration department since 2001. Since the 2005/2006 season, he has been Artistic Management Director as well as part of the artistic managerial team.
