Born in Braunschweig in 1978, Katrin Wichmann studied at the University of Music and Drama in Hanover. While pursuing her degree she gained on-stage experience at the Staatsschauspiel Hannover, appearing in various productions including Armin Petras’ staging of Legoland by Dirk Dobbrow. Thereafter she performed at the Staatstheater Kassel and Theater Basel, working with directors such as Lars-Ole Walburg, Albrecht Hirche and Florian Fiedler. Katrin Wichmann joined the Thalia Theater ensemble in the 2005/2006 season where she continued to collaborate with Armin Petras. In Hamburg Wichmann also worked with directors such as: Andreas Kriegenburg; Stephan Kimmig, Jorinde Dröse, René Pollesch, Dimiter Gotscheff and Michael Thalheimer. In 2007 Katrin Wichmann won the Boy Gobert Award, a prize honouring the best young performer in Hamburg. Wichmann joined the Deutsches Theater ensemble in the 2009/2010 season. Here she continues to collaborate with Dimiter Gotscheff, Michael Thalheimer and Stephan Kimmig, appearing in: Gotscheff’s production of Chekhov’s Ward No. 6; Thalheimer’s stagings of Gerhart Hauptmann’s The Weavers and Dea Loher’s Innocence; and Kimmig’s productions of Children of the Sun by Maxim Gorky and How You Talk the Game by Yasmina Reza.
