Born in Zurich, Judith Hofmann studied at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and worked at the Bayerisches Staatstheater Munich from 1994 to 1999, at the Burgtheater Vienna from 1999 to 2001 and at the Thalia Theater Hamburg from 2001 to 2009. In 2006, she was nominated for a Nestroy Award for her role as Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing (director: David Bösch). At the Thalia Theater, she began a long working relationship with the director Andreas Kriegenburg. Since the 2009/2010 season, she has been a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater, working with Rafael Sanchez, Alize Zandwijk and Stephan Kimmig. In 2010, she received the Tilla-Durieux-Schmuck award, which is awarded every ten years to an “outstanding representative of German theatre”.
