Chris Michalski, born in 1976 in Clifton Springs, writes primarily dramatic texts but also works as a dramaturg, editor and translator. Since 2011, close collaboration with the Nachsteller Kollektiv has resulted in exhibitions, books, and performance scenarios focusing on violence and post-violence, migration and post-migration, longing for the apocalypse, and cosmetic product advertising. With the Carminski_Hauser_Kollektiv, theater productions, performances and audio pieces on un/impossible utopias of our time have been created since 2016. Other collaborations include ceoK, LMN - Liminale Räume and artists such as Annja Krautgasser and Ina Kwon.
For the work on his text complex Lexikon he received working grants from the Austrian Federal Forests as well as the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony. His play When There's Nothing Left To Burn You Have To Set Yourself On Fire was selected as the winning text of the Autor:innentheatertage 2021 of the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
