Simone von Zglinicki was born in Chemnitz and studied acting at Leipzig’s Theaterhochschule. She has been a member of the Deutsches Theater ensemble from 1974 to 2018. Here her roles have included: Miranda in Shakespeare’s The Tempest and Katherine in the Bard’s The Taming of the Shrew; Regina in the Thomas Langhoff production of Ibsen’s Ghosts and Frau Krehler in Georg Kaiser’s Kanzlist Krehler (Krehler the Clerk). Simone von Zglinicki played one of the leading roles in Konstanze Lauterbach’s highly successful production of The Maids by Jean Genet. She collaborated with Jürgen Gosch on his stagings of Arthur Schnitzler’s La Ronde, Roland Schimmelpfennig’s On Greifswalder Street and Chekhov’s The Seagull which was invited to Berlin’s prestigious Theatertreffen festival in 2009. Simone von Zglinicki is a past recipient of the Critics’ Prize awarded by the Berliner Zeitung newspaper. She has also starred in many films, including Christian Petzold’s drama Wolfsburg and appeared in numerous German TV series such as Familie Dr. Kleist and Tatort (Scene of the Crime).
