Svealena Kutschke was born in Lübeck and studied Cultural Studies and Aesthetic Practice in Hildesheim. She now lives in Berlin. She is a laureate of the Open Mic of the Berliner Literaturwerkstatt 2008. One year later her novel debut Etwas Kleines gut versiegeln was published. Svealena Kutschke has received various residence scholarships at home and abroad. Her second novel Gefährliche Arten was published in 2013. For her work on Stadt aus Rauch she got a scholarship from the Berlin Senate and the Scholarship of the Schleswig-Holstein Foundation.
