On their birthday the twins Taylor and Ronny hit the jackpot – a stay at the Beach House in Florida. Together with their rheumatic mother, they set off to the Sunshine State. With happiness within their reach, the family of three, along with all its neuroses and infirmities, instantly seem to be visitors in their own lives on the housing estate. But then they learn what conditions are attached to their winnings. To hang on to their dreams, Taylor and Ronny are drawn into shady dealings both on- and offline, while their mother takes refuge under the palm trees and reminisces about a revolution.
Dorian Brunz contrasts the magical location of the Beach House with a brutal and deceptive reality. The twins’ fight exacts a high price – they are forced to give everything they have, even their faith in the dream. And where, in the end, will all their anger go?
beach house by Dorian Brunz is one of three plays that will premiere in 2020 on the Langen Nacht der Autor_innen (Long Night of the Playwrights) as part of the Autoren(theater)tage at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
