Benjamin Lillie was born in 1985 in Siegburg. In 2004 he gathered his first experiences in theatre in projects at Theater Bonn (Reality Bites) and the Bayer Kultur Erholungshaus in Leverkusen. From 2008 to 2012 he studied acting at the University of Music and Theatre "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig. In the 2012/13 season, he was a member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Leipzig. Since the 2013/14 season he has been a member of the Deutsches Theater ensemble. He has worked with directors including Christopher Rüping, Karin Henkel, Sebastian Hartmann, Stefan Pucher, Jette Steckel, Stefan Kimmig and Bastian Kraft. He received the 2017 Grimme Prize for his role in the film Dead Man Working. From season 2019/20 on, Benjamin Lillie will be part of the ensemble of the Schauspielhaus Zurich.
