Robert Lehniger (*1974 in Weimar) studied Visual Communication and Media Design (Experimental Television) in Weimar and has since worked as a director and video artist. In his filmic works, stage productions, video installations and transmedia projects he investigates the interface between theatre and new media and plays with the forms of media narrative in real space and on the net. His works are based on novels, film material and his own play developments and are shown at theatres and opera houses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. (Theater Basel, Schauspielhaus Zurich, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Münchner Kammerspiele, Volksbühne Berlin, Burgtheater Vienna, Residenztheater Munich, Theater Neumarkt in Zurich, Staatsschauspiel Dresden and Deutsche Oper Berlin). In the 2015/16 season he directed for the first time at the Deutsches Theater Berlin (Lord of the Flies: survival mode). In this season he directs the VR-production of the Junges DT Got Lost in the Woods.
