transmission.ua: Drama On The Move

As part of Drama on the Move, six theater texts by Ukrainian authors were selected and translated into German in 2021. The aim of the program is, on the one hand, to increase knowledge abroad about Ukraine with the help of theater texts and to counteract the cultural isolation of the country, and on the other hand, to enrich the repertoire of German-language theater.
"Some works illuminated the local context, others know no borders. Many texts focus on the war in eastern Ukraine and labor migration. Some stories are marked by the pandemic and forced isolation. A popular genre is tragicomedy." (Expert jury statement)
