Elias Arens was born in 1985 in New York and grew up in Zurich. He trained as an actor at the Department of Performing Arts and Film at Zurich University of the Arts, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in 2008. He was awarded a student acting prize by the Migros-Kulturprozent, a scholarship by the Friedl-Wald-Foundation, won a solo prize at the "Treffen der deutschsprachigen Schauspielschulen" (Meeting of German-language Drama Schools) in Rostock in 2008, and in 2011 was awarded the Armin-Ziegler-Prize. Since the 2009/10 season he has been an ensemble member at the Deutsches Theater Berlin, where he has worked among others with Lilja Rupprecht, Andreas Kriegenburg, Sebastian Hartmann, András Dömötör, Ulrich Rasche and Anne Lenk. Currently he can be seen in The Magic Mountain, 4.48 Psychosis, Franziska Linkerhand, Lear, The Misanthrope, Hunger. Peer Gynt, Solaris, King Ubu, Dog Heart, Nathan the Wise and The Chips are Down.
