Paata Tsikolia
Paata Tsikolia [born 1976 in Tbilisi] has worked in numerous theaters around Georgia and its capital since 2008. After winning the main prize at RDfest 2011 with LOVE RATS, written and directed by himself, Tsikolia focuses on staging contemporary plays from Georgia and around the world and his own original texts, reimagining classical dramas such as Antigone, Caligula, Medea, etc. In 2021 Paata Tsikolia received the highest literary prize in Georgia SABA for the play MEDEA s01e06; after being nominated several times for the main theatre prize in Georgia DURUJI as the best playwright, he received the award in 2015.
Tsikolia's works were seen in frames of numerous contemporary theatre festivals, which he had supported or co-curated throughout the past several years, advocating for change and more vibrant theatre life in Georgia
