Brigitte Urhausen

Brigitte Urhausen, born 1980 in Luxembourg, studied acting at the State University of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart. She initially had guest engagements at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, the Freie Kammerspiele Magdeburg and the Théâtre National du Luxembourg, among others. From 2004-2009 she was permanently engaged at the Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, where she played, among others, Fräulein Else, Margarete from Faust, Louise from Kabale und Liebe and Juliet from Romeo and Juliet. She has been working freelance since 2010. Her guest engagements have so far taken her to the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Theater Trier, Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen and repeatedly to Luxembourg (Les théâtres de la ville, Théâtre National and Théâtre du Centaure) where she increasingly collaborates with the Luxembourg-Belgian director Myriam Muller. Under her direction she could be seen for example as prosecutor Nelson in Terreur by Ferdinand von Schirach and as Dodo in Breaking the waves by Lars von Trier, a production that was also invited to many theaters in France and Belgium, among others to St.Étienne, Rouen, Marseille, Nîmes, Toulon, Nancy and Liège. Since 2011, she has also been seen in film productions in Luxembourg and in Germany. She made her debut in 2011 in the Luxembourgish feature film Doudege Wènkel directed by Christophe Wagner, under whose direction she can currently also be seen in the main cast in the Luxembourgish Netflix series Capitani. She also played a continuous supporting role in the international series Cellule de crise by Swiss director Jacob Berger and joined the new team of the Saarland Tatort as chief inspector Esther Baumann in 2019. In addition to her work as a theater, film and television actress, she also regularly appears in radio drama productions and has been voicing Commissioner Amélie Gentner in the SR Radio Tatort since 2013. She works both in theater and film in German, French, Luxembourgish and English.
