Play II Pause
A classroom game on the revolutionary potential of recess
Stop! No! That's enough! No way! Is it still going on?! There are many words for the youthful unwillingness to "carry on like this". When the pressure to perform is behind you, with its Higher! Faster! Further! and the expectations and the quite normal madness escalates, then the desire often arises to simply stop the course of events with a small click, PAUSE. Tutoring instead of summer holidays? PAUSE. Saving the climate without the help of the boomers, but giving up partying for them? PAUSE. Do homework with all the siblings? PAUSE.
The desire for a change of course, a pause and the opportunity to wriggle out of the overload of being young with brain restructuring, pressure to do grades and fear of failure breaks through in the refusal. But afterwards, after this stop, it becomes exciting: what happens when the system is started up again, we press PLAY and reinvent ourselves in the game?
Sarah Fartuun Heinze and Hannes Kapsch create an immersive theatre game that questions the revolutionary power of the break. It takes the school class out of the break and into the super-big break and throws the dice on the fate of this double lesson according to new rules.
Technical/spatial requirements: We play in the classroom or in the assembly hall (depending on hygiene requirements).
Duration: One double lesson, including follow-up discussion. You will receive a material folder with your booking.
Cost: 5€ per student. If individuals cannot afford the price, DT Friends will support the visit.
For booking and further questions, please contact Maura Meyer at klassenzimmer@deutschestheater.de.
