Moritz Grove was born in 1982 in Hamburg and studied acting at the city’s Hochschule für Musik und Theater from 2004 to 2008. During his studies he was engaged by the Thalia Theater Hamburg, and was a member of the ensemble from 2008 to 2009. Until 2017 he was a member of the Deutsches Theater ensemble. He has worked, among others, with Milan Peschel, Michael Thalheimer, Andreas Kriegenburg, Sebastian Hartmann, Jorinde Dröse and Studio Braun. He has also appeared in various film and TV productions. In 2011, Moritz Grove was the recipient of the Berlin Art Prize advancement award in the category "Performing Arts" and the Berlin Theatre Community’s Daphne Prize.
