Jungung Yang studied Creative Writing at the Seoul Institute of Arts before going on to study acting at Kukdong University. He is on the jury for the Korean, Chinese and Japanese BESETO International Theatre Festival and a professor at the Seoul Institute of Arts. Jungung Yang is the director of the Yeohaengza theatre group and a member of Lasenkan International Theatre, with whom he has performed in Spain, India and Japan. He has been invited several times to the Barbican Centre in London with his productions. In Gdansk, Poland, he was awarded the Audience Prize and in Egypt he received the Grand Prix of the Cairo International Experimental Theatre Festival. He has directed Pericles, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Peer Gynt, Crave, Hamlet, Twelfth Night, The Trojan Women, Les Chaises, Kill The Romantics and operas such as Wozzeck and Carmen. In 2014 Jungung Yang staged the production Hieron. Perfect World by Mario Salazar in Seoul.
