Wonderwomb

Mines explode on an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz - missiles hit a refinery in Saudi Arabia - drones kill an officer of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard - in New York, a stockbroker goes all in with his speculations.... In between and in the middle: the voices of the powerful and the powerless, of the dollars and the millions and millions of beings who have become oil.

Amir Gudarzi's theater text Wonderwomb tells of the oil that keeps the engine of capitalism running, for which people put everything on the line and which stands for the transformation of our world like no other material. The jury of the Autor:innentheatertage 2022 has awarded the play with a special mention. We will present the text in a reading during the Long Night of Authors. Amir Gudarzi was nominated for the Retzhofer Dramapreis 2021 with his text and has since received the Kleist-Förderpreis for the play. Wonderwomb will have its world premiere at the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg in the coming season.
