7 % Hamlet

A project by Gintersdorfer/Klaßen
The rehearsals start even though there’s no script. For actor Bernd Moss and Ivorian dancer, singer and choreographer Franck Edmond Yao, Shakespeare's Hamlet initially presents a basis for dialogue, a springboard: What are the themes? And how do they link up to their own experiences, their own lives? Where do the actors’ stories match, and where do they clash? The production soon becomes an exploration of the difference between magic and mysticism – at times probing the spiritual aspects of the civil war on the Ivory Coast and, at others, the power of theatre. Two perspectives, two bodies, one performance.
