Alice
based on the novel by Lewis Caroll
A hot summer’s day. Alice sees a white rabbit with a pocket watch who seems to be in a hurry. She follows him into a rabbit hole and falls and falls. She changes size several times and enters into an absurd wonderland filled with strange creatures where she joins the Mad Hatter’s tea party. In the palace garden she meets a court full of living playing cards who are at the mercy of the ferocious Queen of Hearts, who is in the habit of chopping off her subjects’ heads on a whim. Suddenly Alice finds herself called to the witness stand, defends herself vociferously and grows and grows and grows.
With this world-famous classic, Nora Schlocker and her young ensemble enter into an impenetrable parallel universe far removed from the adult world, in which space and time have lost all meaning. Confronted with mad systems and rules, the concept of normality is questioned on an existential level. What is identity and how can it assert itself here?
