The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs (Der Teufel mit den drei goldenen Haaren)
Showcase Beat Le Mot, based on the fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm
Once upon a time there was a little boy who was born lucky, so many prophesised a great future for him. For example, that he would marry the princess. That did not please the king. He bought the child from his poor parents and put him in a basket on the river. Problem solved, he thought to himself. But the lucky child would not have been a lucky child if he had not been saved and lovingly raised by a miller’s family. When the king learned that the boy was still alive, he again tried to kill him. But this plan failed, too. Then the young man arrived at the Royal Court and actually married the Princess. Now the king was very, very angry indeed and demanded that the youth should personally bring him three golden hairs from the devil. No problem, he thought – after all, I am a lucky child! And off he set.
