Digital Radar Ost
Visit us from Friday, 19 June, 17.00 o´clock at the digital DT: www.radarost.digital
From 19 to 21 June, the Deutsches Theater Berlin will open its doors to an international audience. On three stages as well as in eight other spaces in the theatre, productions from Eastern Europe and Russia will take place in parallel, with over 50 hours of non-stop theatre free of charge. What sounds utopian in current times is being made possible by Digital Radar Ost. For the festival weekend, the DT will be turned into a digital space. In three-dimensional, familiar and unknown areas, the audience can discover and experience digital editions of planned guest performances, premieres of transnational collaborations and live streams of productions by renowned directors – in addition to lectures, concerts, talks and workshops. Now that many national borders have been closed, it is more important than ever to premiere contemporary drama from Eastern Europe in Germany. This summer, you, the audience will not have to go without discovering new plays, contemporary theatre and spending time together – except that the shared space will be digital and traverse national borders (design and implementation: CyberRäuber).

Programme Digital Radar Ost
For the original Radar Ost festival weekend, theatre productions from the Ukraine, Hungary, Russia and the Czech Republic were selected for the programme with a focus on female perspectives. Together with our partner theatres, inspiring editions of these works have now been created for digital space. The DT will also be presenting three full-length outstanding productions by Kirill Serebrennikov, Ewelina Marciniak and Timofej Kuljabin for the first time in Germany, as a live stream with either English or German subtitles. Cross-border collaborations with the Gogol Center in Moscow, the Dakh Teatr in Kiev and the Royal District Theatre in Tbilisi are also celebrating their premieres online.
In the supporting programme we will be showing three lectures with artists from Russia, Poland and the Ukraine on current socio-political issues and taboo subjects. These cover nationalism, the war in Eastern Ukraine and sexism. You can also take part in an interactive drag workshop and the webinar News from the East? with partner theatres of the European Theatre Convention (ETC).
