Lear [Stream]
based on William Shakespeare
and: "The Politicians" by Wolfram Lotz
and: "The Politicians" by Wolfram Lotz
Dying fathers in hospital beds. At their feet, the children, entangled in their heritage, which closes the future instead of opening it. Which repeats the old instead of pointing to something other. And a monologue that speaks of the politicians' omnipotence and excessive demands as much as of the loneliness of the speaking I and the longing for another. The scenes and images that Sebastian Hartmann presented in his production Lear after William Shakespeare and: The Politicians by Wolfram Lotz almost two years ago, seem today, in pandemic times, more irritating and present than ever. As it is still not allowed to show the play in the theatre, the director and his ensemble are re-encountering their production and transforming it into a unique livestream.
