Love and Money
by Dennis Kelly
Hungry for love, David is carrying on an e-mail-romance with a woman from France. But his past comes back to haunt him. David is a widower – not technically a murderer, but an accomplice to his wife’s suicide. How did it happen? David needed money – lots of it. His teacher’s salary was never anywhere near enough. David resorts to selling himself – body and soul. At some point he even eats humble pie and seeks help from his ex-girlfriend Val, the head of a telecommunications firm. She humiliates David, then hires him. But there’s still not enough to pay the bills and it’s all his wife’s fault. Jess is consumed with consuming; she’s a shopaholic. Therapy doesn’t help. Jess has to buy things; she shops until she drops. But there’s not enough money – or love – to go around.
