Meike Droste

Born in Bobingen bei Augsburg, Meike Droste completed her acting training at Munich’s Otto Falkenberg School of Performing Arts. During her studies she performed at the Kammerspiele in Munich. In 2001 Droste won first prize in the Carl Orff competition for young actors. Between 2002 and 2004 she was a member of the Berliner Ensemble’s cast, making her debut there under the direction of Claus Peymann. There she also played the title role in Bertolt Brecht’s Saint Joan of the Stockyards (directed by Claus Peymann) and appeared in Leander Haussmann’s production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. From 2004-2006 Droste was an ensemble cast member at Zurich’s Schauspielhaus, where she worked with directors such as Rafael Sanchez, Werner Düggelin and George Tabori. Meike Droste joined the Deutsches Theater ensemble as of the 2006/2007 season. Here she has worked primarily with directors Barbara Frey and Jürgen Gosch. In 2009 Droste won a "Faust" theatre award for her portrayal of Masha in Gosch’s staging of The Seagull. At the DT, Meike Droste currently plays Ann Deever in Roger Vontobel’s production of All My Sons and Varya in Stephan Kimmig’s staging of The Cherry Orchard.
