Born in Tübingen in 1983, Thomas Schumacher studied acting at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig. From 2009 to 2011, he performed at the studio theatre of Dresden’s Staatsschauspiel. There he appeared in: Simon Solberg‘s staging of Romeo and Juliet; Julia Hölscher’s adaptation of Astrid Lindgren’s novel The Brothers Lionheart; Tilmann Köhler’s staging of Italian Night by Ödön von Horváth, and Fabian Gerhardt’s production of The Island by Athol Fugard. Thomas Schumacher has been a member of Deutsches Theater’s ensemble since the start of the 2011/12 season. Here he can be seen in: Nurkan Erpulat’s stage adaptation of The Castle by Kafka; Stephan Kimmig’s production of The Cherry Orchard by Chekhov and Jette Steckel’s staging of Philistines by Maxim Gorky.
