Daniela Löffner

Daniela Löffner was born in Freiburg in 1980. She began as an assistant director at the Theater Freiburg. In the same position she went to the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus in 2006 and assisted Jürgen Gosch and Volker Lösch, among others. Here she created her first own productions such as Die Wildente or Demian, which was nominated for the theatre award DER FAUST 2011. Further works took her to the Residenztheater Munich and the Schauspielhaus Zurich, among others. There she staged, for example, the world premiere of Anne Nather's play Im Wald ist man nicht verabredet and was thus invited to the Autorentheatertage Berlin 2010. Her production Kinder der Sonne at the Schauspielhaus Zurich was invited to the festival radikal jung. From 2010 to 2014 she was in-house director at the Staatstheater Braunschweig. For Kinder der Sonne and The Tempest at the Staatstheater Braunschweig she was awarded the Kurt Hübner Directing Prize in 2014. At the Deutsches Theater Berlin she directed Rebekka Kricheldorf's Alltag & Ekstase, Philipp Löhles Das Ding, Die lächerliche Finsternis by Wolfram Lotz, Väter und Söhne by Brian Friel based on the novel by Iwan Turgenjew, which was invited to the 2016 Theatertreffen, and Franziska Linkerhand based on the novel by Brigitte Reimann, which premiered at the Deutsches Theater in the 2019/20 season.
