Eduard is a cosmetic surgeon, Charlotte a successful singer. The child Charlotte wished for has not materialised. Now their newly purchased house feels empty, their garden too big, the nearby lake too quiet. And so their plans become all the more extravagant: plans for a new summerhouse (spruce wood!), for Eduard’s new doctor’s practice (lime green), for conversions and additions, Charlotte’s next concert, the next nose job... This is the world that Michael bursts in on. Eduard and "Mick" studied medicine together, but over the years, the two have drifted worlds apart. Eduard operates on crisis-ridden Westerners, eliminating their fears of becoming old and worthless. Michael works for a humanitarian organisation and has just returned from Afghanistan. He brings with him stories of Western violence, victims of mines, fatal battles and pointless deaths.

"The storm is right over us," writes Moritz Rinke in his new play. It is the story of a sinking world: of the decaying palaces of the bourgeoisie; of lonely people, whose biographies, faces and bodies are scarred by war; and of the pressure to be beautiful and successful.
