Anna Viebrock
Anna Viebrock studied stage design at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Her collaboration with Christoph Marthaler has taken her to numerous theatres and opera houses such as Theater Basel, Volksbühne Berlin, Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Oper Frankfurt, Opéra de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid, Salzburger Festspiele and Bayreuth Festival, Wiener Festwochen, Festival d'Avignon and Schauspielhaus Zürich, in whose management team she worked until summer 2004. Since 1994 she has worked with the Jossi Wieler/Sergio Morabito directing team on opera productions at the Theater Basel, the Salzburg Festival, the Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam and above all in Stuttgart. Recently she also designed stages for the director René Pollesch and the choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Anna Viebrock has also worked as a director since 2002. She has staged music theatre at the Staatsoper Hannover, the Opéra Bastille in Paris and the Schwetzinger Festspiele. Actor at the Hebbel Theater Berlin, Schauspielhaus Zürich, Theater Basel and Schauspiel Köln. Exhibitions of her stage design models have been shown in Rotterdam, Prague, Frankfurt/Main, Madrid, Brussels, Gent, Avignon, Helsinki, Basel and Giessen. She has been awarded the "Stage Designer of the Year" and "Costume Designer of the Year" awards a total of 16 times. In 1997 she was awarded the Hessian Cultural Prize by the State of Hessen, in 2004 she was awarded the Berlin Theatre Prize and in 2013 the Hein-Heckroth Prize. She was awarded the Zurich Festival Prize in 2015. Anna Viebrock is a professor at the Akademie der bildenden Künste Wien. In the 2019/20 season she will design the stage design for René Pollesch's production (Life on earth can be sweet) Donna, which will have its world premiere in December 2019 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
