Christoph Franken
Christoph Franken was born in 1978 in Cologne, and from 2001 studied at the Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts in Munich. In 2005 he attended the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg. Before and during his studies he acted at the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Münchner Volkstheater, the Teatro Sesc Ginástico Rio de Janeiro and the Staatstheater Stuttgart. At Schauspiel Hannover he acted in Juergen Gosch’s production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters (Berliner Theatertreffen 2006), in Wilfried Minks’ production of Sophocles’ King Oedipus, and in Nuran David Calis’s production of Wedekind’s Spring Awakening. He was also in Sebastian Nübling’s production of Simon Stephens’ Pornographie (Theatertreffen Berlin 2008), and in Tilmann Köhler’s production of Thomas Freyer’s Und in den Nächten liegen wir stumm (And at Night We Lie Silently). From 2009 to 2019, he has been a member of ensemble of the Deutsches Theater Berlin and has worked with directors including Adrian Figueroa, Jürgen Gosch, Tilmann Köhler, Stephan Kimmig, Thom Luz, Nora Schlocker, Nuran David Calis, Stefan Pucher, Rafael Sanchez, Jette Steckel, Daniela Löffner and Sebastian Hartmann. In addition, Christoph Franken plays jedermann at the Salzburg Festival and regularly appears in film and TV productions. From season 2019/20 on, Christoph Franken will be part of the ensemble at Residenztheater in Munich.
