Katja Bürkle

Katja Bürkle, born in 1978, studied acting at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. In 2000, she got a permanent engagement at the Staatstheater Stuttgart. At the beginning of the 2008/09 season she moved to the Münchner Kammerspiele. She worked with directors such as Stephan Kimmig, Karin Henkel, Roger Vontobel, Jossi Wieler, Sebastian Nübling, Friederike Heller, Lola Arías, Julie van den Berghe, Kristian Smeds, Johan Simons, René Pollesch, Christopher Rüping and Ulrich Rasche. In addition to her work at the theater, she is frequently in front of the camera in film and television productions, including Polizeiruf 110 and Tatort or in feature films such as Einsamkeit und Sex und Mitleid (directed by Lars Montag). She also teaches at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich. She also lends her voice to many radio and audio book productions. In 2002, the trade journal Theater heute voted Katja Bürkle "Young Actress of the Year". In 2018, she was nominated for the FAUST Prize and received the "Best Actress Award" for her performance in Christopher Rüping's Hamlet production at the 36th Fadrj International Theater Festival in Tehran. In the 2019/20 season he can be seen in the new production by Ulrich Rasche 4.48 Psychose on the stage of the Deutsches Theater Berlin, which celebrates its premiere in January 2020.
