Helmut Mooshammer was born in Austria in 1955 and studied to be a Biology and German teacher. In 1977 he began his acting training at the Brückner Conservatory in Linz. Mooshammer performed at the Münster City Stages (1980-1987), Constance’s Municipal Theatre (1987-1991), the Kassel State Theatre (1991-1996) and Düsseldorf’s Playhouse (1996-2000). As of the 2000/2001 season, Helmut Mooshammer was a member of the Thalia Theatre ensemble where he regularly worked with directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Stephan Kimmig, Dimiter Gotscheff and Alize Zandvijk. Since 1998 he has worked as a lecturer at the Folkwangschule in Essen and teaches at the Theaterakademie Hamburg and the Universität der Künste Berlin. He has done literature readings all over Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In the summer of 2019 he will be at the Salzburger Festspiele, playing in Jedermann. Helmut Mooshammer has been a member of the Deutsches Theater ensemble since the season 2009/2010. There he performs in different productions by directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Jette Steckel, Bastian Kraft and Daniela Löffner. Currently he can be seen in zu unseren füßen, das gold, aus dem boden verschwunden, ugly duckling, Revolutionary Road, Medea. Voices, Heart of a Dog, Fathers and Sons, Democracy, Biography: A Game and Thieves.
