Wolfgang Menardi

Wolfgang Menardi studied acting from 1997 to 2001 at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich. This was followed by engagements at the Munich Kammerspiele, Théâtre national de la Colline Paris, Théâtre national de Strasbourg, at the Thalia Theatre in Hamburg, at the Schauspiel Köln and at the RuhrTriennale. He was member of the ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsschauspiel in Munich until 2012. He has worked on a freelance basis since 2012, most recently at Theater Basel. In 2006 he received the Prix de Souffleur for his role as Le Fou in the production of Le Chemin de Damas at the Théâtre national de la Colline. Parallel to his work as an actor, he also began working as a director and set designer in France and Germany. In 2005, alongside his acting work, he began studying architecture at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Since then, Wolfgang Menardi has also worked regularly as a set and costume designer at theatres in Nuremberg, Augsburg, at the Volkstheater in Vienna, the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam, the Schauspielhaus Graz, Theater Basel, the Munich Kammerspiele, and Schauspiel Frankfurt. He collaborates closely with the directors Alexander Nerlich, Thom Luz, Bernadette Sonnenbichler and Maria Viktoria Linke. In 2014 he was nominated as Best Young Artist in a critics' poll of the magazine Theater heute for his set design for Urfaust at the Hans Otto Theater in Potsdam.
