Mark Badur

Born in 1977 in Finland, Mark Badur grew up in Berlin and at the age of eight years, he first started playing the violin, then the guitar. While playing in the school orchestra and a rock band, he dreamt of becoming a rock star. He began studying musicology and ethnomusicology at the Freie Universität Berlin and worked as a carpenter. A job as stage technician at the Berliner Ensemble led to his first encounter with theatre. After training as a sound engineer, he worked as a freelance composer at the interface between stage music and sound design. He began an ongoing collaboration with the director Jette Steckel, for whose plays he has developed stage compositions in Cologne, Kassel, Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna.
