Evgeny Kulagin
Evgeny Kulagin, born in 1981, graduated from the Academy of Art and Culture in his home town of Chelyabinsk. In 2002, together with Ivan Estegneyev, he founded the contemporary dance company "Dialogue Dance" in Kostrom, which soon after its foundation developed into an important centre for contemporary Russian dance. The company's performances have been awarded the prestigious Golden Mask three times. In 2009 Kulagin and his company worked with the most important companies and choreographers of Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria. Evgeny Kulagin is also active in spoken theatre and for film as choreographer and director. From 2014 until its closure 2022 he was engaged as director and choreographer in Moscow's Gogol Center under the direction of Kirill Serebrennikov. There he directed and choreographed Shakespeare (2017) and Two Rooms (2018). With Kirill Serebrennikov he has already worked on numerous productions both in spoken theatre and opera. Most recently they realised the film Leto (Summer) together, which was screened at the Cannes Film Festival and also at the Zurich Film Festival.
