Maria Schneider
Maria Schneider is a freelance drummer in Berlin. She was born near Hannover in 1983 and grew up in a family of musicians. Her parents Wolfgang and Andrea Schneider, as well as her sisters Daniela and Johanna Schneider studied classical percussion like her. After school Maria Schneider attended the vocational school for music in Dinkelsbühl, where she studied percussion and choir and ensemble conducting as her main subjects. From 2002 she studied percussion with Edgar Guggeis, Franz Schindlbeck, Rainer Seegers, Li Biao and Sanja Fister at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Since 2013 she has been a permanent member of the Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, playing regularly and irregularly in various orchestras, ensembles and bands. She was a member of the EUYO - European Union Youth Orchestra, played at the Proms in London, at the Roskilde Festival and played with such greats as Hermeto Pascoal, Iva Bittova and Benny Greb. Maria Schneider also plays the piano and sings, has performed in music theatre productions at the Schaubühne Berlin and the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, as well as set readings with actor Hartmut Becker and performed at the World Drum Festival.
