Jan Bosse

Jan Bosse was born in Stuttgart in 1969 and studied drama, German literature and art history at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He later studied directing at Berlin’s Ernst Busch School of Acting. From 2000 - 2005 Bosse was an in-house director at Hamburg’s Schauspielhaus. It was there that he staged his very successful production of Goethe’s Faust - Part I, with Edgar Selge in the title role. The Deutsches Theater hosted guest performances of that production in May 2005. Bosse staged Heinrich von Kleist’s The Schroffenstein Family and Werner Schwab’s The Presidents (aka Holy Mothers) at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich. In 2005, Bosse directed his first production for the DT, staging the world premiere of Jon Fosse’s Warm. His production of William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing for Vienna’s Burgtheater was invited to the 2007 edition of Berlin’s prestigious Theatertreffen festival. Bosse staged Beckett’s Endgame as part of the Deutsches Theater’s 2006/2007 season.
