Wolfram Koch

was born in 1962 in Paris. After studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt, his first engagements were at the Freie Volksbühne, the Schiller-Theater Berlin and the Schauspiel Frankfurt. From 1995–2000 he was a member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Bochum. Since then he has worked freelance for theatres including the Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz and the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. Wolfram Koch has acted regularly for Dimiter Gotscheff and since his role as Diener Mosca alongside Samuel Finzi in Volpone, the acting duo has become "a new dream couple of the stage" (Frankfurter Rundschau). At the Deutsches Theater he can be seen alongside Ulrich Matthes in Becket’s Endspiel (director: Jan Bosse) and in Gotscheff’s acclaimed production Die Perser by Aeschylus. In 2011 the quartet of artists Koch, Finzi, Gotscheff and Almut Zilcher were awarded the Theaterpreis Berlin for their "epochal productions that combine great theatre with unusual and clever approaches to the material". For their roles in Warten auf Godot, Samuel Finzi and Wolfram Koch were awarded the Gertrud-Eysoldt-Ring 2014. Koch made his cinematic debut as a 13-year-old in Voytech Jasny’s film adaptation of the novel Ansichten eines Clowns (1975). He has also appeared in the films Hannah (2006, director: Erica von Moeller), Die Entdeckung der Currywurst (2008, director: Ulla Wagner) and Draußen ist Sommer (2013, director Friederike Jehn). Koch also works as a voice actor for audio books and has had many roles in film and television. In October 2013, he took on the role of the new Tatort detective in his home town of Frankfurt am Main.
