Sarah Kurze

Born and raised in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 1993. After a year abroad, several theatre projects and her Abitur with a production of her own as her examination performance, she spent a voluntary cultural year at the Theater Junge Generation in Dresden as assistant director. There followed guest assistantships and her own production in the framework of the tjg. Theaterakademie. She then studied Italian, General and Comparative Literature, Theatre and Film Studies in Berlin. In the field of directing, she has spent almost a season as a guest director and assistant at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg Platz (2016/17), as well as for individual productions; at the Parkaue, with the Lovefuckers group with performances in the Sophiensælen, the Thalia Theater Hamburg and the Deutsches Theater Berlin, where she has been a permanent assistant director fpr two years (2018-2020). During this time she presented two works at the Deutsches Theater in the format Frei-Boxen, two scenic readings as part of the Autor:innentheatertage (Gaia googelt nicht (2019) & Gaia rettet die Welt (2020) by Nele Stuhler) as well as a livestream production as limited edition (Die härteste Tochter Deutschlands after a text by Katharina Köth). In the 20/21 season, she directed Feuersturm by David Paquet at Theater Konstanz (the German-language premiere has been postponed due to the pandemic). The world premiere of her production of Gaia googelt nicht on the outdoor stage of the Deutsches Theater will take place in spring 2021.
