The Crown Pretenders (Die Kronprätendenten)
freely adapted from Henrik Ibsen
Royal battles in medieval Norway, told in a vigorous style, with countless characters and winding subplots – although The Crown Pretenders (Die Kronprätendenten) was a great success at its premiere in 1864, it is probably no coincidence that Ibsen's early historical drama is only known to insiders. Sarah Kurze, Elias Arens, Lorena Handschin and Natali Seelig feel this is unjustified. In their joint production, they have condensed various scenes and created a cleverly crisp, entertaining script on rulers from Ibsen’s material.
