András Dömötör
András Dömötör (born in 1978), is director at the Katona József Theater and drama teacher at the Theatre Academy, both in Budapest. He got his directing diploma in 2007. Since 2013 he has worked increasingly for German-speaking theatres. He is especially interested in contemporary plays and themes and in the role of theatre in society. He has developed several plays based on improvisation. His most important works as a director: Sirenengesang by Péter Nádas, The Plague by Albert Camus, Märtyrer by Marius von Mayenburg, Marat/Sade by Peter Weiss and Mephistoland, which he developed with two co-authors for the Gorki Theater Berlin. He was selected as Most Promising Young Theatre Talent by Hungarian theatre critics. Most recently, Dömötör has directed at the Katona Theater Budapest (Terror by Ferdinand von Schirach), the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, the Staatstheater Karlsruhe and the Schauspielhaus Graz.
