Ulrich Rasche
Ulrich Rasche was born in Bochum in 1969. The director and stage designer first studied art history and comparative literature. This was followed by numerous productions and projects, including the 2004 choral project Singing! Immaterial works at the Palast der Republik, followed by productions at Schauspiel Stuttgart, Theater Bonn and Schauspiel Frankfurt. Ulrich Rasche has received several awards for his work. In 2013 he was awarded the Kunstpreis Berlin of the Akademie der Künste Berlin. For Die Räuber at Residenztheater München (2017), Rasche received an invitation to the Theatertreffen. In 2018, Ulrich Rasche was invited to the Theatertreffen for the second time in a row, with his production of Woyzeck at the Theater Basel. In 2018, he was awarded the Nestroy Prize for the "best performance in German-speaking countries" for his production of The Persians (Salzburg Festival). 2019 Ulrich Rasche received an invitation to the Theatertreffen with Das Große Heft (Staatsschauspiel Dresden) for the third year in a row. In the 2019/20 season he staged Die Bakchen at Vienna's Burgtheater and in January 2020, his new production 4.48 Psychose by Sarah Kane will premiere at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
