Max Simonischek, born 1982 in Berlin, studied acting at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. Engagements among others: Vienna Burgtheater, Munich Kammerspiele, Salzburg Festival, Bregenz Festival, Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin, Schauspielhaus Stuttgart and Frankfurt, Deutsches Theater Berlin, where he worked with directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg and Armin Petras, as well as Andrea Breth, Stephan Kimmig, Johan Simons, Karin Henkel and Jan Bosse. In addition to readings in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, he regularly appears in front of the camera for film and TV, for example in the TV series Laim. In 2015 Max Simonischek directed and performed Kafka's Der Bau for the first time at Zurich's Neumarkt Theater, which he subsequently performed at the Burgtheater Vienna, the Salzburg Festival, Schauspiel Frankfurt and Landestheater Innsbruck, among others, where he will continue to direct in 2022. Max Simonischek has received the Vienna Nestroy Theater Prize for his theater work, the Friedrich-Luft-Prize for the best Berlin production. For his film work he received the German as well as the Swiss Television Award, as well as two nominations for the Swiss Film Award for Best Leading Actor. He has been an ensemble member at the Deutsches Theater since the 2022/23 season.
