Christian Schwochow

After studying at the Film Academy Baden-Wuerttemberg, Christian Schwochow first attracted attention in 2008 with his feature-film debut Novemberkind, starring a prominent cast. It was awarded the Audience Prize at the Max Ophüls Festival. His directorial work on the two-part series Der Turm (2012) was awarded the renowned Grimme Prize. His subsequent film Die Unsichtbare was awarded the German Film Prize for best supporting actress, among others distinctions. His feature film Westen (2013) also won the German Film Prize, this time for the best leading role. In November 2013, Christian Schwochow made his directorial theatre debut with Gift at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, which was awarded with the German Theatre Award for best actress in the following year. For Bornholmer Straße, Christian Schwochow was once again awarded the Grimme Prize in 2015. In the spring of 2016, the ARD will broadcast the planned German feature film trilogy about the NSU. Christian Schwochow’s film NSU: Die Täter – Heute ist nicht alle Tage is the first part of the trilogy and has received several awards, including the Grimme Prize. His feature film Paula, about the fascinating artist Paula Modersohn-Becker, will be released in cinemas in winter 2016. In the March 2017, Christian Schwochow completed shooting of the 6-part ZDF series Bad Banks.
