Juliane Koepp

Juliane Koepp was born in 1969, in what was then East Berlin. From 1990 to 1997 she did a degree in Cultural Studies at Berlin’s Humboldt University. During this period she also actively campaigned to save the Volksbühne theatre at Rosa Luxemburg Platz. Koepp worked as an assistant director and technical organizer for the first theatre production put on at Berlin’s alternative arts centre Tacheles: Carlos Medina’s staging of Quay West by Bernard-Marie Koltès. Juliane Koepp was also an assistant director and dramaturg for some of Andreas Kriegenburg’s productions at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. From 1997 to 2000 Koepp was a dramaturg at Schauspiel Hanover, and from 2000 to 2009 at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. She regularly collaborates with directors Andreas Kriegenburg and Armin Petras, and has also worked with Jorinde Dröse, Stephan Kimmig, Annette Kuß, Michael Talke, Mark Zurmühle and Michael Thalheimer. Juliane Koepp has been a dramaturg at the Deutsches Theater Berlin since the 2009/2010 theatre season.
