STAY UNITED #2 – Cooperation with the Hotel Continental
Women at war
Reading with DT ensemble members Natali Seelig, Birgit Unterweger und Julia Windischbauer and Ukrainian artists Sofiia Kroshka, Anna Mrachkovska and musician Axxi Oma
Women at War
In Ukrainian, English and German with English surtitles.
Waging war is a man's business - so a common view. But although wars are usually declared by men, they permeate the societies concerned in their entirety. Women are usually victims, sufferers or even spoils of war, but they also fight on the front lines as activists, reporters, medics, doctors or weapon-carrying soldiers. On this evening, the Hotel Continental and the Deutsches Theater will focus on the perspective of Ukrainian women and bring together their voices to create a multi-layered panorama of the spirit of resistance, the will to survive and practical reason. A female sniper who fights on the front line of the war, a female train conductor who reports on her experiences with other women in the evacuation trains, an artist between Kyjiv and Berlin and a Ukrainian author who has to watch the tragedy from a distance and struggles to find words. With texts by Tanya Maljarchuk, Asia Bazdyrieva, Anna Mrachkosvka and excerpts from Ukrainian women's accounts of their experiences.
Reading with music. The Ukrainian artists Sofiia Kroshka and Anna Mrachkovska as well as the DT ensemble members Natali Seelig, Birgit Unterweger and Julia Windischbauer will read, accompanied by the Ukrainian musician Axxi Oma.
The event will be repeated once again: on 30 March at the Hotel Continental - Art Space in Exile (Elsenstraße 87, Alt-Treptow), tickets are available here.
