Mark Lammert
Born in Berlin in 1960, is a German painter, illustrator, graphic designer and set designer. He lives and works in Berlin. From 1979–86, Lammert studied painting at the Kunsthochschule Berlin and from 1989–92 he was a master-class scholar at the Akademie der Künste Berlin. In 1993 he created his first stage set for Heiner Müller’s production ‘Duell-Traktor-Fatzer’ at the Berliner Ensemble. Over the following years he received painting scholarships from the Senatsverwaltung für Kulturelle Angelegenheiten, Berlin (1994) and the Kunstfond Bonn (1996), to which he became affiliated in 1997 as a member of the advisory board. In 1997 he lived and worked in Lisbon and the following year he was awarded the Grafikpreis of the Kunstmesse Dresden. In 1999 the Akademie der Künste awarded him the Käthe Kollwitz Prize. In 2000/2001 he was invited to Paris by the Académie Experimentale des Théâtres. The Preußische Seehandlung presented him with their Eberhard Roters scholarship for painting in 2002. He spent 2003 in France where he was artist in residence at Les Recollets, Paris. In 2011 Lammert was appointed Professor of Painting at the Universität der Künste, Berlin.
