Tilo Baumgärtel

Born 1972 in Leipzig. Studied painting at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig from 1991 to 1998 in the class of Professor Arno Rink; from 1998 – 2000 master student of Arno Rink. Since 1998 Tilo Baumgärtel has participated in numerous exhibitions as well as solo exhibitions. In 2002 he received the art award of the Sachsen LB. Baumgärtel is considered a representative of the New Leipzig School. His works are exhibited at the Museum der Bildenden Künste Leipzig, the Saatchi Gallery in London and the Von der Heydt Museum in Wuppertal, among others. In addition, Tilo Baumgärtel is a member of the studio project LIGA Berlin. Long-term collaboration with the theater director Sebastian Hartmann. Since 2020 Tilo Baumgärtel is professor of painting at Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule Halle.
