Jens Harzer, born 1972 in Wiesbaden, trained as an actor at the Otto-Falckenberg-Schule in Munich, was a member of Dieter Dorn's ensemble for 16 years from 1993, first at the Münchner Kammerspiele, then at the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel. He has also made guest appearances at the Schaubühne Berlin, the Deutsches SchauSpielHaus Hamburg, the Burgtheater Vienna, the Deutsches Theater Berlin, the Schauspiel Frankfurt, the Ruhrtriennale and the Salzburg Festival. During these years he worked with Dieter Dorn, Peter Zadek, Andrea Breth, Martin Kušej, Luc Bondy and Jürgen Gosch. Since 2009 in the ensemble of the Thalia Theater Hamburg. Collaboration there with Dimiter Gotscheff, Luk Perceval and Johan Simons, among others. In the cinema he worked together with Michael Verhoeven, Hans-Christian Schmid, Bülent Akinci and most recently Wim Wenders. Jens Harzer was voted Actor of the Year in the 2008 and 2011 critics' surveys of the magazine Theater heute. In 2019, Harzer was awarded the most important theatre award in Germany: the Iffland-Prize. He can be seen at the Deutsches Theater Berlin in Jürgen Gosch's production of Uncle Vanya (Onkel Wanja).
