Anita Vulesica, born in Munich, grew up in Zadar, Croatia, and Berlin, and studied acting at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin. From 2001 to 2004, she was engaged as an actress at the Theaterhaus Jena, and since 2004 she has been working freelance at various municipal and state theaters throughout Germany. From 2008 to 2010, she was a member of the ensemble at Schauspiel Leipzig and was awarded the Leipzig Theater Prize in 2009.

Anita Vulesica was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater Berlin from 2010 to 2018. She has been directing regularly since 2015 and writes her own texts. As a director, she most recently worked at Theater Basel, Volksbühne Berlin, and Burgtheater Wien. At the Schauspielhaus Graz, she directed dritte republik (eine vermessung) by Thomas Köck, the world premiere of Garland by Svenja Viola Bungarten, and Die kahle Sängerin by Eugène Ionesco. Her productions in Graz have won the Austrian theater award Nestroy several times, and Anita Vulesica has also been honored as Best Director.
